WHAT IS FSSAI?

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has been established under Food Safety and Standards , 2006 which consolidates various acts & orders that have already handled food related issuesin various Ministries and Departments.

The FSSAI is responsible for setting standards for food so that there is one body to deal with and no confusion in the minds of consumers, traders, manufacturers, and investors. The Food Safety and Standards Act (FSS), 2006 is the primary law for the regulation of food products.

FSSAI is looked after by CHAIRPERSON, non – executive , who is made the man in charge via central government ,who has already been involved in Government service as The Secretary.

FSSAI (Food Standards and Safety Authority of India) is accountable for regulating as well as governing food safety in the country.If you are intending to start a business, then you need to obtain a license
from FSSAI.
